Passenger arrested on warrants

Ceres Police Officer Nicolas Welsh thought something was funny about the way a trunk of a Honda popped open as it turned into the Chevron station at Hatch and Herndon roads so he investigated. As it turned out, a passenger was wanted on several arrest warrants, the driver was unlicensed and the car itself hadn’t been registered since 2018.

During the 7:07 p.m. investigation on Saturday evening, Officer Welsh grew suspicious of one the occupants when he spoke. The passenger, Daniel Johnston, 26, of Turlock had initially given his brother’s name as his own in an effort to elude his arrest for the warrants issued by Turlock Police.

Johnston was arrested for the outstanding warrant and for impersonating another to make them liable.
