Police finish with chase

Ceres police were involved in a pursuit that started out with a Sheriff's deputy and ended in an arrest on Wednesday evening, March 25.

The deputy was chasing traffic violator in South Modesto and cancelled the pursuit as it went eastbound over the Hatch Road Highway 99 overpass. Ceres police were waiting and caught up to him. After a short pursuit of less than a minute the suspect crashed his black 1993 Honda Civic into the curb at Hatch Road and Central Avenue. The suspect, Rudy Gonzalez, 33, of Modesto, tried to run away but was tackled by officers.

At 11:34 p.m. he was arrested and to be charged with evading police, hit and run, driving on a suspended license and committing a crime while out on bail.
