Police are investigating a stabbing that sent one Ceres man to the hospital on Thursday evening, July 5.

The stabbing was reported at 8:47 p.m. in an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Evans Road. Sgt. Travis Hudson and Officer Kevin Sakasegawa arrived first and found a 26-year-old man on the ground bleeding profusely from his right upper arm. They immediately applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding until paramedics and fire personnel arrived.

Police say a fight preceded the stabbing with the suspect fleeing the scene prior to the arrival of officers. The victim was treated at an area hospital where he underwent surgery to repair the damage to his arm.

Detectives are investigating the stabbing as an attempted murder and were following up on several leads. Anyone with information related to the crime is asked to contact Detective Bryan Ferreira at 538-5616.
