Ceres Cop Car

Two men who were on probation were arrested by Ceres Police Sunday evening after being spotted riding in a stolen 1996 Honda Civic.

Driver Tyler Wright, 24, of Modesto, was on active probation for drug possession and had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. One warrant was for a prior auto theft and the other for drug possession.

Passenger Michael Kirk, 29, of Modesto, was also on active probation and had a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

The pair was spotted at 11:08 p.m. by Officer Eric Souza who was at Hatch Road and Herndon Road. He checked the license plate and learned it was stolen. He followed the Honda to a parking lot at the northwest corner of Crows Landing Road and Colusa Avenue in south Modesto. Officer Souza ordered the occupants to raise their hands and took them into custody.

The Honda was started with no key and had been hotwired. It was also missing its stereo.

Wright and Kirk were each booked into the Public Safety Center for felony auto theft, possession of stolen property, probation violation, and their warrants.
