A 37-year-old Modesto man who was wanted for a Feb. 29 residential burglary in the 2000 block of Chablis Way in Ceres was apprehended on Thursday afternoon.
Brandon Swamy was identified as the man who broke into the Ceres home at approximately 9:37 p.m. on Feb. 29.
Ceres Police Sgt. Vince Hooper spotted Swamy driving in the vicinity of Bystrum Road and Leo Avenue at approximately 4:07 p.m. on Thursday and attempted to stop his car. Swamy refused to pull over and began to flee in a reckless manner. Because Swamy showed no concern for the safety of others, the pursuit was terminated, but the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s helicopter tracked him while updating police on the ground as to his locations. While in the area of Kiernan Avenue and Morrow Road in Modesto, Swamy ran into a fence post and attempted to run away. He was quickly arrested.
Swamy was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for first-degree burglary and felony evading a peace officer.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Swamy’s Modesto residence and recovered some of the stolen property, which was returned to its rightful owner.
