Modesto police arrested one of three suspects in a Sunday homicide that occurred north of the Tuolumne River near the Seventh Street bridge.

The body of Danny Wallace Jr., 45, of Modesto, was reported on the embankment at 4:50 p.m. A Modesto Police investigation revealed that Wallace had been in an altercation with other men before his slaying. Police located one of the suspects, Daniel Ray Gassett, 29, of Modesto, walking in an alley near Modesto's Sixth Street hours after the discovery. Gassett was charged with murder.

Two other men, believed to have known Wallace, are being sought. Information would be helpful in helping detectives find the other suspects by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636.
