The driver responsible for a Jan. 3 crash that resulted in serious injuries and one death was arrested Wednesday morning, June 19 at his home.

Joe Patrick Sandoval, 43, of Ceres, was unable to be booked into jail at the time of the crash due to serious injuries he sustained. The crash occurred at 7:38 p.m. at the intersection of Service and Mitchell roads. Five persons riding in a black Nissan Sentra were injured, one of them fatally. Sandoval fled his black Honda Accord on foot but was identified from cards in his wallet left inside the car. Police then searched for Sandoval to no avail.

Last week several Ceres Police officers responded to 4837 Faith Home Road Space #52 in Ceres to arrest him on a felony warrant. Sandoval answered the door and was arrested without incident. Sandoval told officers that “no one died” but it was explained that one person did die.

Sandoval was booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the felony warrant.
