The discovery of a Waterford man’s body on a canal bank in south Modesto sent Stanislaus County Sheriff’s detectives into a suspicious death investigation on Sunday morning.
The deceased man was 30-year-old Erik Estrada.
A man walking his dog at 6:45 a.m. made the discovery near Las Vegas Street. Nearby is the Salvation Army Red Shield Center and Hanshaw Middle School.
Authorities were awaiting autopsy results to determine how the man died but considered the death to be suspicious.
