Sheriff's Department detectives were investigating the shooting death of a man Friday morning in the 3400 block of McGee Road near the Berryhill Elementary School campus.
The shooting was reported at approximately 2:55 a.m. and when Ceres Police officers and sheriff's deputies responded they found a Hispanic man with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has not been positively identified.
McGee Road, which runs along the western boundary of the school, was closed off at both Roeding and Don Pedro roads. Detectives were processing the crime scene in the roadway until mid-morning. Neighbors were interviewed but a press release indicated that detectives have no suspect information.
