Ceres Cop Car

Stephanie Tooker, 27, of Modesto, was being booked into jail for allegedly shoplifting at the Ceres Kmart store on Saturday evening, Jan. 2, when she was caught smuggling a meth pipe into jail.

Police were called to the store at 9:40 p.m. for a shoplifter in custody. They arrested Tooker and drove her to the jail. Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Pat Crane said prisoners are routinely warned to surrender any contraband before entering the jail or face an additional charge of smuggling. Tooker was booked on the charges of shoplifting as well as smuggling drug paraphernalia into the jail.
