Speeder escapes arrest
Ceres Cop Car

The driver of a speeding truck managed to lose Ceres police officers during an early Monday case.

At 1:22 a.m. on Halloween Day, Officer Art Hively advised he was trying to catch up to a red truck which was traveling westbound on Service Road from Central Avenue at a high rate of speed. Sergeant Keith Griebel was in the area and joined in the pursuit as the truck ran the stop sign at Service and Morgan roads. As the truck continued westbound the driver turned the lights out as it passed Ustick Road. The truck could be seen turning southbound onto Carpenter Road as officers continued the pursuit. The driver of the truck did not stop at any stop sign or stop lights and exceeded speeds of 100 mph and drove so recklessly that officers were not able to keep up and terminated the chase. They lost sight of the truck at Carpenter and Taylor roads.

Officers do not have a license plate for the truck and do not have a description of the driver. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Ceres Police Department at 538-5712.
