Stolen car recovered behind businesses
Ceres Cop Car

A 35-year-old Modesto man was arrested for possession of a stolen car and drugs after a Ceres police officer investigated a suspicious occurrence on Saturday evening.

At 8:29 p.m. Officer Dirk Nieuwenhuis was patrolling behind businesses on the southern side of the 1400 block of Hatch Road when he saw a gold-colored 2008 Honda Accord parked close to two dumpsters at the rear of the Rent-A-Center. When he ran the license plate number through the state data base, it came back as reported stolen by Turlock Police. Upon closer examination, Nieuwenhuis found two people inside the car - driver Eddie Glaspy, 35, of Modesto, and passenger Janee Doshier, 23, of Ceres. Once additional officers arrived, both were removed from the car and detained. A search yielded a glass pipe along with hypodermic syringes. Keys to the vehicle were located in the ignition.

Doshier stated Glaspy picked her up from the area of Ninth and G streets in Modesto approximately 20 minutes before. Doshier said she did not know the vehicle was stolen and was released from the scene.

Glaspy denied stealing the Honda and said a friend let him borrow the vehicle the day prior but could not provide a positive identification for his friend. Glaspy was arrested for possession of stolen property and probation violation.

Prior to transporting Glaspy to jail, he stated that he had swallowed a gram of methamphetamine and a gram of cocaine. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center for medical attention and charges will be sought through the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office
