A 24-year-old Merced man suspected of stealing a car was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was reported passed out or asleep in the driver's seat of that Honda.

A person called 911 at 4:05 p.m. about a possibly intoxicated man passed out in the Honda as it was parked near the Hatch Road Carl's Jr. Ceres Police Sgt. Vince Hooper found the stolen Honda with Omar Fierros, 24, of Merced, passed out inside of it. A check of the vehicle identification number revealed it had been reported as stolen in Atwater.

Fierros was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen property, possession of burglary tools and for a violation of probation.
