A 28-year-old Ceres man was arrested Sunday, two days after he allegedly robbed the Walmart Supercenter and threatened violence against employees who tried to stop him after he left with stolen items.

No firearm was produced but the threat of violence qualifies the theft as a robbery.

The robbery occurred at 5:39 p.m. on Friday. Officer Brian Chandler was the first to arrive and was unable to find the suspect who had last been seen heading north in the parking lot towards Don Pedro Road.

The suspect was positively identified as Rolando Solorio, 28, of Ceres and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Solorio was spotted at 11:35 p.m. in the area of Rose Avenue and Roeding Road by Officer Kao Saechao. Solorio fled on foot into a residential area where police set up a perimeter and began a search. Solorio was found hiding in the 2700 block of Hayes Court.

He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on robbery and resisting arrest charges.
