A family moving into the home at 2306 Fifth Street over the weekend located a device that resembled a pipe bomb in a shed, which prompted an evacuation of nearby homes and a visit from the Sheriff's Department bomb squad.

Ceres Fire Department came out after being called at 3:42 p.m. on Saturday and immediately called Police evacuated nearby residences and the bomb squad destroyed the device on site.

At 7 p.m. residents were allowed to return home and the street reopened.
