Due to thefts, patrols have been stepped up in the industrial area south of Service Road. A recent patrol led to the discovery of two suspicious persons and their arrests.

At 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, Officer Brian Peterson was patrolling in the area of Morgan Road and Marchy Lane when he noticed a suspicious car near the canal. Peterson stopped Armando Toledo, 20, of Modesto, who was driving the 2004 Chevy Trailblazer.

Officer Bryan Ferrera was called to bring the canine Diesel to sniff out the car for drugs when the dog alerted on two locations. That gave officers caused to search the vehicle, which produced two baggies of methamphetamine, a pipe and marijuana.

Toledo was arrested for driving on a suspended license for DUI, possession of a machete, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving a false name to police and for violating the terms of his probation.

Veronica Moreno, 39, of Modesto, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and violation of probation.
