SUV rolls into park during chase
Ceres Cop Car

A 42-year-old Ceres man was arrested Saturday evening after he tried to run from police officers who investigating him for violating a domestic restraining order.

Officers went to a home in the 1900 block of Astor Court for an 11:56 p.m. report of Joseph Ofisa violating a court order to stay away. When Ofisa returned to the home and caused a disturbance, police were called.

As the victim was being interviewed, Ofisa drove up in a Dodge Durango and then accelerated away as he spotted police. The officers went chasing after him and caught up with him eastbound on Fowler Road at Mitchell Road traveling at a high rate of speed. Ofisa could not negotiate the turn onto southbound Boothe Road and struck a curb, causing the SUV to roll several times into Marie Neel Park.

Police detected the strong odor of alcohol coming from Ofisa. First aid was rendered until paramedics arrived. He was treated and then cited for violating an order, violation of probation, driving without a license and DUI.
