A 19-year-old Ceres man was arrested Sunday afternoon after leading Ceres Police on a pursuit that reaching 65 mph in residential areas.
At 3:42 p.m., Officer Aaron Pinon attempted to stop the driver of a gold-colored Infinity G35 due to speeding and the car having a modified exhaust to be loud. Instead of pulling over at Hatch and Boothe roads, driver Jawad Ahmed, 19, led Officer Pinon on a pursuit southbound on Boothe Road, traveling up to 65 miles per hour in a residential area. Ahmed attempted to turn east on Waynesboro Drive, lost traction and collided with the curb before taking off again. The driver continued to lead officers on a pursuit before coming to a stop in the 3500 block of Pomegranate Avenue.
Ahmed was arrested for evading officers in a vehicle recklessly and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
