A 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday evening after he was spotted in a stolen car and led police on a pursuit that ended when he crashed.

At 11:25 p.m. Officer Eric Souza spotted a maroon Honda Civic driving westbound on Pink Avenue and when he ran the license plate he found it had been reported as stolen. Unprompted by Officer Souza, the driver pulled over to the curb on Gideon Way south of Pink Avenue. When the officer pulled behind the Honda and began to order the driver to get out, the teen sped off and the chase was on.

The pursuit was short-lived as the Honda accelerated westbound on Posho Avenue and driver losing control as he tried to make a southbound turn onto Sanko Avenue. The Honda collided with a parked Ford Explorer.

The suspect ran from the Honda, jumping over a fence into a backyard of a nearby residence. He was apprehended moments later when the resident found him and alerted officers.

The 17-year-old male juvenile faces charges of grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, evading police and hit and run charges.
