Teen arrested in hit and run crash

A Ceres teenager was arrested Monday evening after he allegedly backed into a woman causing great injury and fleeing the scene.

Christopher Garcia, 18, of Ceres, was arrested on charges of felony hit and run.

Ceres Police Sgt. Jose Berber said that Delois Belcher, 62, was in the parking lot of Thai Cuisine on Hatch Road at 6:03 p.m. when a motorist backed into her in a "violent manner." A surveillance video showed the driver getting out of his car, looking at the woman lying on the ground and fleeing in the car. The woman was transported to a local hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Officers Brittney England and Derek Perry were able to track down and arrest Garcia through the license plate number to the 2700 block of Riverbend Drive.
