The driver attempted to run but the fence that he had collided with swung back as he exited and pinned him against the car. The driver and was taken into custody. His 14-year-old passenger ran but was found hiding on a roof of a nearby residence.

Both were booked into Juvenile Hall for auto theft.

Their names were not released because a state law protecting the identities of minors arrested for crimes.
