Ceres Cop Car

Three persons were arrested and booked Saturday evening for felony auto theft and possession of stolen property after a Ceres Police officer pulled over a black two-door Honda Civic on Silver Oak Lane.

Officer Jesus Salinas got behind the stolen Honda at Whitmore Avenue and Eastgate Boulevard at 10:37 p.m. When other units arrived, police ordered its three occupants out at gunpoint. Driver Dylan Depalma, 23, and passengers Ashley Riner, 33, and Mathew Fann, 39, all of Modesto, each denied knowing the car was stolen. Depalma it belonged to a friend of Riner's and that he and Fann originally picked up the car in south Modesto. Depalma admitted to stealing cars in the past and serving prison time for it.

Fann said he and Depalma were both picked up by Riner in the vehicle. Fann also admitted to stealing vehicles in the past but did not know this vehicle was stolen.

Officer Miguel Villalobos located two shaved keys in Riner's pocket. Officer Salinas located a shaved key in the ignition.

Depalma was found to be on felony probation.

The Honda's registered owner living in Riverbank arrived on scene and told officers that the vehicle had just been stolen that evening. The registered owner wanted them all prosecuted for the theft. All three were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for felony auto theft and possession of stolen property charges.

Riner was also charged with possession of burglary tools and delaying and obstructing during arrest.

While being processed into booking, Officer Souza located methamphetamine in Depalma's left sock during a secondary search. Depalma was also charged with bringing contraband into a jail facility, a felony offense.
