Three Modesto teenagers were arrested and booked after they stole a Lexus from a store parking lot Monday evening, Nov. 11.

The owner of the 2010 Lexus IS250 called 9-1-1 at 7:50 p.m. after finding his car had been stolen in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree store at 2600 Crows Landing Road.

Officer Matthew Myers took the report of the theft and a few hours later, at 12:20 a.m. yesterday, he spotted the stolen car turning on Cyrus Hall Drive from Whitmore Avenue. Officer Myers followed the vehicle and saw it being parked in the 500 block of Shaker Heights Way. The driver, a 15-year-old boy from Modesto, exited the car with two teen girls, aged 15 and 17.

Officer Myers detained all three as other patrol units arrived. Officer Myers recognized all three from security video from the Dollar General of the vehicle theft.

All three juveniles were arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of grand theft auto, possession of stolen property and criminal conspiracy.
