A suspicious after-hours removal of good from a storage locker in Ceres led to a call for a police check and the arrest of a Turlock man on multiple charges early Sunday.
At 1 a.m. Ceres Police Officer Kao Saechao was dispatched to check on the suspicious activity at the Secure Care Self Storage in the 1700 block of Mitchell Road. Officer Saechao and other officers found Eilbaron Gevergizian, 41, of Turlock, in a GMC Denali parked next to an open storage unit. Gevergizian got out of his vehicle to speak with officers who noticed a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine on the passenger seat.
Gevergizian was detained and found to have a large amount of suspected methamphetamine on his person. Officers learned that Gevergizian is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, being armed while in possession of an illegal substance, possession of an illegal substance for sale, possession of a firearm without a serial number, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
