Turlock man in stolen car arrested
Ceres Cop Car

A 52-year-old Turlock man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 7 after he was stopped by Ceres police in a stolen car.

The car stop was made at 3:30 p.m. by Officer Kevin Sakasegawa who checked the license plate on a green Honda Accord at the intersection of Whitmore Avenue and Ninth Street and was notified it had been reported stolen in Turlock. Once a second officer arrived, a high-risk stop was conducted to pull the car over at Whitmore Avenue and Sixth Street. Driver Michael Cochran, 52, of Turlock, and a passenger were detained and both denied knowing the Honda was stolen.

Cochran told officers that he bought the car from a female friend. He provided officers with the friend's first name but could not remember her last name.

The registered owner of the vehicle took possession of the stolen car.

The passenger was released at the scene while Cochran was taken to jail where he was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and vehicle tampering.
