A 24-year-old Turlock woman thought she would be able to avoid arrest for DUI after she plowed into the back of somebody else’s car early Friday but Ceres Police quickly had her in handcuffs.

The crash happened at 12:52 a.m. on June 19 on Mitchell Road at Hatch Road. Mariah Schriver was driving a Honda Accord southbound on Mitchell Road when she struck the back of a BMW stopped for a red light. After the crash Schriver drove her Honda to the nearby parking lot of KFC and both she and a male fled on foot.

Officer Jesus Salinas checked the area and found Schriver and her companion by the Auto Zone on Mitchell Road. She admitted being the driver and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol with her blood alcohol content at nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent to drive. She faces charges of DUI and hit and run.
