Two occupants of a stolen vehicle were arrested during a high-risk car stop in the drive-thru lane at Hatch and Mitchell roads Saturday evening.

At 5:32 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the area of Mitchell and River roads when he began following a white Ford Explorer reported as stolen. The driver pulled into the KFC drive-thru and awaited additional officers to conduct the high-risk stop. Removed from the car were driver, Jerry Patterson, 37, of Jackson, and passenger, Mark Cristo, 53, of Modesto.

The officer learned that Patterson’s license had been suspended for a prior DUI and that he had two arrest warrants related to weapon violations and traffic violations.

Patterson was arrested on new charges of auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and driving on a suspended license for a prior DUI.

Cristo had three warrants for drug and theft violations.

Cristo was arrested for his three warrants. Both were taken to the county jail.
