A Monday evening shooting at Strawberry Fields Park in west Ceres sent two teens to the hospital and Ceres Police investigators scurrying for clues they hope will lead to arrests.
Police said that three men were sitting inside a vehicle parked near Strawberry Fields Park before 8:53 p.m. They saw a second vehicle being driven erratically before it pulled up next to the victim’s car and someone began firing. The vehicle containing the gunman pulled forward approximately 60 feet, stopped and the occupants fired another volley of rounds at the victims. An 18-year-old man, who was seated in the back seat was shot numerous times. The front seat passenger who is 19 years old was shot in the elbow.
With his two occupants hit, the unidentified driver sped off to the 1400 block of Don Pedro Road, where the 18-year-old was dropped off in the hope that he would seek out medical attention. Investigators are still piecing together how the 19-year-old made his way to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock and have not identified the driver of either vehicle.
With no suspect vehicle information or suspect descriptions, Ceres Police investigators would like to speak to the driver of the victims’ vehicle and ask that he contact Detective Matt Berlier at 538-5616.
