A 61-year-old Modesto man with warrants for theft and drug possession was arrested Friday evening after an officer found him carrying drugs as he was hanging out behind a commercial building.

At 8:48 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Jordan Justice was patrolling the back side of the businesses in the 1600 block of Hatch Road when he encountered Ricardo Saldivar, 61, of Modesto at the back of dd’s discounts at 1640 Hatch Road.

A records check revealed that Saldivar, 61, had three warrants for his arrest related to theft, drug possession and providing police with a false name. While searching Saldivar, Officer Justice located a glass pipe and a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine. Saldivar was arrested for the three warrants, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
