Ceres Police Sgt. Vince Hooper was on patrol in the area of S. McClure and Leckron roads on the Modesto side of the river early Wednesday, March 8 when he stopped a Chysler van for vehicle code violations. During the 1:29 a.m. traffic stop Hooper conducted a records check on the occupants and learned that passenger Jared McWhirter, 37, of Modesto, had a felony warrant for his arrest.

McWhirter was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
