Melissa Walls, 41, of Ceres, will face charges in court that she committed theft and vandalism at the city of Ceres Corporation Yard in Smyrna Park.

A burglar alarm went off at the city facility at 3:51 a.m. early Saturday and Officer Jonathan Blount was quickly on scene. He spotted Walls walking away from a cut in the cyclone fence surrounding the yard. The officer also noticed that the cargo light was illuminated on a city truck parked inside the fenced yard.

Officer Blount found that the interior of the truck had been ransacked and that Walls was in possession of two boxes totaling 12 padlocks.

Walls was cited for theft and vandalism and released.
