A man who allegedly overpowered and robbed money from the teenage female manager of Farmer Boys restaurant on Mitchell Road was tackled by two cooks who came to her rescue on Monday afternoon, May 4.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jose Berber said the robbery took place at 1:41 p.m. as the 18-year-old manager was on her way to her car to drive to the bank to make a deposit. She was approached by Santos Marquez Jr., 20, of Modesto, who grabbed the bag of money from her hand after punching her in the lower back. The victim managed to knock the bag out of his hand as he tried running off. Marquez reportedly came back and tried to grab the bag off the ground but two cooks yelled at him, scaring him away. The pair then chased him down, tackled him and held him until police arrived.

Marquez was booked on charges of robbery and violation of probation.
