Four persons were injured, one critically, when they were hit by a spray of bullets in a drive-by shooting three days before Christmas.

The shooting, in the 700 block of Musick Avenue, may have been gang related.

Ceres Police said a gathering of people were standing in the driveway of a house on Musick at 8:08 p.m. on Dec. 22 when a dark colored Honda sedan pulled up containing three males. Approximately eight to nine shots were fired at the group, hitting a 14- and 15-year-old teens and two adults. By the time officers arrived, two of the most seriously wounded were taken by private cars to get medical help. The two less critically wounded teens were at the residence.

The most seriously wounded victim was taken by air ambulance to a Bay Area facility with gunshot wounds to the neck and chest. The other adult was shot in the abdomen and sustained serious damage to his bowels.

Apparently the party had just returned from a party when the shooting took place, said Sgt. Jeff Higginbotham.

Police had sketchy information as of Dec. 26. Persons who have information on the incident should call the Ceres Police Detectives Bureau at 538-5727.
