Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) announced his "There Ought to a Be a Law"contest to provide constituents the opportunity to present ideas for new legislation. Senator Cannella will personally sponsor legislation from winning submissions.

"Some of the best ideas we have for legislation have come from members of the community that see the need for a change," said Cannella. "For example, this year we had a bill that came from a suggestion that ended up becoming the first law in the nation to criminalize cyber revenge. This contest allows citizens to gain first-hand experience in the law making process and improve California government."

The deadline is Dec. 20, and the winners will also be invited to Sacramento to testify at a hearing on their bill.
