Sheriff's detectives are treating the cause of death and circumstances surrounding Monday's discovery of a body found between orchards near Central Valley High School as a homicide.

Authorities say the burned body belonged to that of 25-year-old Lauren Grace London of Modesto.

The discovery of London's body was made about 200 yards down a dirt road in the 4300 block of Blaker Road across from the Ceres wastewater treatment plant. A person who was walking through the orchard found the body and called 911 at 2:27 p.m. Sheriff's detectives were unable to determine if the location of the body was where her death took place or if the body was dumped there.

Detectives used the Sheriff's helicopter to take aerial photographs and deployed a sheriff's canine for a search for articles relating to the body.

Anyone with information on the person found in the orchard is urged to contact Detective Frank Soria at 525-7080. Persons with tips may leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636 or e-mail tips to http://www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text tips to 274637 and typing "Tip704" plus the message to be eligible for a cash reward.
