Chamber seeks nominations for 2015 Community Service Awards

Since 1969, the Ceres Chamber of Commerce has recognized outstanding members of the Ceres community who've made extraordinary contributions in community service. As the year closes in on the end, that honor will be bestowed once again.

Nominations may be made online at or in the Ceres Chamber office located at 2938-A Fourth Street in downtown Ceres, now until the end of the year. All nominees will be invited to the Chamber's 47th annual Community Service Awards & Installation Dinner in January, at which time the winners will be announced.

"It goes without saying that there are so many individuals and businesses that support our community in various ways and they do it for the love of their community," said Chamber President Renee Ledbetter. "We want to recognize those individuals and businesses and thank them for all they do, but we need the community's help.

"There are many individuals who fly under the radar doing good things, volunteering and working for the betterment of our community. We may not know who they are or what they do, but their circles know. We need nominations so that we can recognize these people for the work they do."

Among the categories citizens and businesses will be recognized in are Distinguished Service, Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, Downtown Business of the Year, Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year, and Legacy, which honors individuals and/or businesses that have contributed through service, support or volunteer efforts, to the Ceres community for more than 40 years.

The banquet is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29 at the Ceres Community Center. Tickets are $35 per person. Sponsorship tables seating eight also may be purchased and includes complimentary wine and sponsor recognition during the event. For more information on purchasing tickets or to sponsor a table, contact the Chamber at 537-2601.

The banquet will also call for installation of new officers to the Chamber's Board of Directors.
