Faye Lane honored by state assemblyman

Faye Lane was honored Monday as the Woman of the Year from the 21st Assembly District. Assemblyman Adam Gray nominated Lane who was honored at a ceremony at the Capitol.

Lane spent 32 years working as a classified employee with the Ceres Unified School District until she retired in 1997. In 2007, she was elected to serve as a member the Ceres Unified School District Board of Trustees. Gray said Lane has governed with her board during the greatest fiscal crisis of her generation while ensuring that Ceres students continued to receive excellent educational opportunities.

"Faye's work as both an advocate for school employees and an advocate for students is remarkable," said Gray. "She continues to put the needs of others first in all of her endeavors. She is a leader in our community and I respect her opinion and knowledge on matters dealing with retirees and students. It is an honor to recognize her achievements."

Lane's family includes sons, Ken and Stan. She is the grandmother of five and great grandmother of one.
