Seattle based, award-winning guitarist, Josh Snodgrass will be performing at The First Southern Baptist Church of Ceres on Sunday evening, Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. His instrumental guitar performances range in style from Bluegrass to Blues and he also plays traditional gospel hymns as well as original songs. His energetic and beautiful arrangements demonstrate the vast possibilities of the acoustic guitar as an instrument.

"I've had the great opportunity to study the work of some of the greatest acoustic guitarists in the world. I've tried to take the techniques I've learned and add something new."

Josh originally learned to play guitar at the age of six from his father. After playing in church during his childhood years, he became the lead guitarist of the Gospel Bluegrass group The Smoothgrass Boys, which gained notoriety in 2002 during the Folk music revival. Later he learned a rare technique, called hybrid picking which allows Snodgrass to play the melody, bass line and rhythm all at the same time on an acoustic guitar. His guitar playing is frequently compared to Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins and Phil Keaggy and he is one of the most gifted and entertaining guitarists in the Northwest. You can listen to his music at www.joshsnodgrass.com.

The First Southern Baptist Church of Ceres is located at 2813 Don Pedro Road in Ceres. A free will offering will be taken.
