A funeral was held Thursday at Airport Assembly of God in Modesto for Arthur Beck, 75, of Keyes. He died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004 at his home.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park under the direction of Allen Mortuary.

Born March 8, 1929, Mr. Beck was a native of Manhattan, N.Y. He was a merchant seaman for 40 years and served in the Army from 1946-48. Mr. Beck was a member of the American Legion in Modesto. He enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, assembling model ships and watching the TV game show Jeopardy.

He leaves behind his wife, Norene Beck of Keyes; five children, Harriet Thorner, Victoria Beck, Betty Hawley, and Teresa Burns, all of California, and Dale Farrier of Oklahoma; two brothers, Gabe Beck of New York and Lewis Beck; his sister, Beverley Beck of Florida; and 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
