The Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements for Bettie "Sue" Robinson Elam, 72, of Ceres. She died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Born Aug. 1, 1933, Mrs. Elam was a native of Quanah, Texas, and lived in Ceres for 70 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. Mrs. Elam was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading and boating.

She leaves behind her husband, Russell G. Elam of Ceres; two children, Carole Rozeira of Modesto and Gloria Pinheiro of Ceres; three stepchildren, Scarlett Senten and Amber Elam, both of Seattle, and George Elam of Denver; and four grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave. Suite 8, Modesto, CA 95350; or to a favorite charity.
