A Celebration of Life will be held at Denair High School at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 for former Keyes resident Derek Lee Rayburn, 26. The Seneca, Mo. man was killed was killed Jan. 12, 2005 in an automobile crash in Joplin, Mo.

Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Ark. under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.

Born April 26, 1978 in Ceres, Mr. Rayburn was a 1997 Denair High School student where he lettered in football and baseball for the Coyotes. He was a member of the Keyes Assembly of God Church. Mr. Rayburn moved to Seneca, in August, and was employed by Pleasure Pools of Joplin. Mr. Rayburn was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the National Hill Climbers Association.

He leaves behind his wife, Nikki Rayburn of Seneca; two sons, Dylan Lee Rayburn and Dawson Cole Rayburn, both of Seneca, Mo.; his parents, Leo and LeAnn Rayburn of Ceres; his brother, Jimmy Lee Rayburn of Tracy; and three sisters, Kristen Rayburn of Ceres, Shelly Rayburn of Galt, Jessica Skidgel of Waterford; his grandparents, Leonard and Elaine Rayburn of Gentry, Ark., and Deon "Babe" and Betty Tackett of Ceres.
