Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Allen Mortuary in Turlock for Gurudeo "Gurudev" Kaur Atwal, 76, of Turlock. The former Ceres resident died Nov. 20, 2010 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday at Allen Mortuary, followed by a 2 p.m. cremation service.
Born June 1934 in Punjab, India to Batan and Udham Bains, Gurudev lived in Ceres from 1989 to 2000, then moved to Turlock. Mrs. Atwal was a member of the Turlock and Modesto Sikh temples. She enjoyed dancing and folk songs. God and family were her life.
She leaves behind five children, Inderpal S. Atwal, Lakhbir S. Atwal, Onkar S. Atwal, Barindir K. Sahota, and Harpal S. Atwal, all of Turlock; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Jagjit S. Atwal, three sisters and a brother.
