Hazel Louise Kinney Heagerty

A funeral service was held Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Hazel Louise Kinney Heagerty, 87, of Waterford. The former Ceres resident died in Waterford on March 20, 2011.

Born Sept. 5, 1923, Hazel was the sixth of 10 children of Charles and Amy Kinney of Colorado. The Kinneys left Colorado in 1929 when Hazel was 5 years old and two years later the family was living in California. By 1930 they had settled in the Central Valley working on various dairies in and around the Modesto area. In 1941 Hazel met and married William H. Heagerty of Alameda. She lived in the South Bay Area from 1941 to 1979, then retired to a ranch home in Ceres. Mrs. Heagerty lived in Brookdale from 1998 to 2005 and then moved to Waterford in 2005.

She leaves behind by five children, Louise Elliott of San Jose, Steve Heagerty of Brookdale, Gary Heagerty of Wash., Ron Heagerty of Delhi, and Katie Guenther of Waterford; and 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by nine siblings, husband Bill in 1993, and son Tim in 1968.

Remembrances may be sent to a favorite charity or to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Rebekah Lodge #34, Santa Clara, CA.
