A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Helen Lucille Winfrey, 86, of Ceres. She died March 23, 2011 following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 25, 1924, Helen worked at the Carroll Fowler School where she worked many years as a cook in the cafeteria. She retired from the Ceres Unified School District and stayed busy with charity work. Mrs. Winfrey enjoyed hand crocheting caps for newborns at Memorial Medical Center and assisting in the immunization clinic at the county's Public Health Department on Scenic Drive. She enjoyed dancing and participated in many senior dance organizations.
She leaves behind her husband, Carl Winfrey of Ceres; three sons, Douglas Winfrey, Gregory Winfrey and Stanley Winfrey; and numerous grandchildren.
