A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon at the Ceres Masonic Center for Helen Valorne Hawk Shank, 72, of Ceres. She died Friday, June 17, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Allen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 16, 1932, Mrs. Shank was a native of Johnson City, Tenn., and had lived in Ceres since 1959. She was a registered nurse for 20 years. Mrs. Shank was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 296.
She leaves behind three children, Andrew Shank and Russell Shank, both of Ceres, and Arthur Shank of Washington; four sisters, Audrey Salts and Barbara Salts, both of Johnson City, Dolores Johnson of Hartsville, Tenn., and Gail Heim of Orlando, Fla.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Shanks; and children Edward Tyler and Kevin Tyler.
