A funeral service was held Saturday at Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home for Hildred A. Foster, 98, of Ceres. She died April 17, 2011.

Burial was private.

Born Dec. 26, 1912 in Fort Smith, Ark., to Monroe and Lydia Hatley, Hildred grew up in Arkansas where she met and married the love of her life, Willard Foster. She spent some time during World War II working in the shipyard. Willard and Hildred started their family with daughter, Wilma shortly after a move to California. After giving birth to Betty, Hildred went back to school to get her LVN license and worked as a nurse at nursing homes and Memorial Hospital Ceres. She enjoyed camping and fishing, but also loved getting dressed up in pretty spring dresses and hats. After her husband passed she spent her time socializing and traveling with the Ceres Senior Citizens Club.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Wilma Bradford of Salinas and Betty R. Carpenter of Ceres; five grandchildren, Kathy Lyon, Glen Bradford, Michael Bradford, Terry Tanner and Tracy McGuire; and 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
