Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Salas Brothers Funeral Home in Modesto for Inez Bernice Spurlock Journey, 80, of Ceres. She died Nov. 1, 2009 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Salas Brothers. Burial will follow at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon.

Born May 30, 1929 in Iona, Okla., Inez was the eldest of 12 children born to Roy and Lydia Spurlock. She lived in Ceres for most of her life. She worked for Del Monte Cannery for over 30 years until her retirement in 1994. Mrs. Journey enjoyed gambling, and quilting and crocheting caps for the American Cancer Society and the homeless.

She leaves behind her children, Mary Boling, Lona Thompson, Charlotte Foster, Steve Cochran, Jack Cochran, Rodney Cochran and Michelle Tracy; her sisters Betty Savage, Wanda Holly, Dellene Willis and Linda Jones; her brothers, Bob Spurlock, Larry Spurlock and Terry Spurlock; and 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by siblings Bill Spurlock and Jay Spurlock and four others in infancy.
