A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, for Lawrence Pool, 83, of Ceres. He died April 23, 2011.

Born Sept. 24, 1927 in Popular Bluff, Mo., Larry served in the Navy at the end of World War II where he received a Victory Medal. He married Dorothy on April 23, 1949 and made their first home in Modesto and later moved to Ceres where they lived 49 years. Mr. Pool worked as a roofer for 30 years and retired in 1982 from the Roofer's Local 81 Union. He enjoyed retirement golfing, spending time with grandchildren, gardening, RV traveling with Dorothy, and chatting with friends at the local donut shop.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Pool of Ceres; his daughter, Doris Pool-Phelps; his sister, Peggy Skinner; three grandchildren, Stacy Gray, Kary Prichard, James Garrett; and eight great-grandchildren, Bryan, Jesse, Rebecca, Tanner, Brianna, James, Andre, Christian.
