A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Crown of Life Chapel in Joplin, Mo., for former Ceres resident Louella Wheeler, 76. The Joplin, Mo. resident died from a lengthy illness on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005.

Burial will be at the Osborn Cemetery in Joplin under the direction of the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca, Mo.

Born May 21, 1928, Mrs. Wheeler was a native of Ninnechak, Okla., and lived in Joplin since 1994. She lived in Waterford as a teenager where she married R.W. "Bud" Wheeler in 1946. Mrs. Wheeler lived in Modesto and Ceres before moving to Joplin. She was a member of Crown of Life Chapel and the Pentecostal Church of God since 1962.

Mrs. Wheeler leaves behind her husband, Bud Wheeler of Joplin; four children, Charlotte Busby of Ceres, Connie Nelson of Kingwood, Texas, and Dane Wheeler and Kenney Wheeler, both of Joplin; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ruby Lancaster; and her daughter, Sandra Ann Wheeler.
