Lowrie "Chet" Thompson

A funeral service was held Tuesday at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Lowrie Chester "Chet" Thompson, 96, of Ceres. He died of natural causes on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Modesto Convalescent Hospital.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born March 1, 1909, Mr. Thompson was a native of Mt. Etna, Iowa, and lived in Modesto from 1944 to 1957 and Ceres since 1957. He retired as a shipping clerk for Longs Drugs store in 1971.

He leaves behind his wife, Lois V. Thompson of Ceres; his son, William "Nick" Nichols of Modesto; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Thompson, daughter Elizabeth King, son Carl E. Thompson, grandson Mark King and a brother.
